Ok, here are the steps. Start your blog, ensure you are writing good posts everyday and constantly updating it. Do NOT fill it with advertisements, let the search engines know everytime you post something new (ping o matic). Link to other high page rank sites relating to the same thing, and do your best to have them link back to you. Submit your blog to some rss directories. Make a video about your blog, explaining it in person and link it to your actual blog page. KEEP DOING THIS STUFF, keep updating, keep pinging, maintain a level of originality and network (talk) with other bloggers. Actually be interested in other bloggers material, don't just comment on blogs to leave your link. Slowly but surely, your blog will build a reputation. Also to index your blog or site on google...
1. Add your blog or website to google: www.google.com/addurl
2. Join a forum like forums.digitalpoint.com and make your links your signature, contribute to some good number of posts in three days;
In three days, your blog or website will be indexed by google and some other search engines.
To get 10k visitors per day might be impossible unless you are a search engine like Google... That's what i think.

Does Diggs have nofollow on their article submission? Because stumble does use nofollow so you wont get any backlinks from them, but just an extra traffic

It really depends where your blog's niche is. Based on my experience, it's usually either through contacts or through search engine traffic. 10k a day (especially if we're talking about uniques here) is no laughing matter. You should have at least a few thousand of pages indexed by Google.
If you'd want to exploit contacts and networks, then never underestimate the power of e-mail. E-mail them to inform about your site and have them link to your posts or Digg/Stumble them. These should get the ball rolling.
Writing interesting content can also get your posts in Digg or Stumbleupon.
