I couldnt have said it any better than that. Also, start submitting your blog to an rss blog directory site. Be everywhere your audience is and again to emphasize on the last answer, IT TAKES TIME. You have to reach out to others, in order to get people to look at you. Check out other peoples blogs, leave comments, go to community discussion boards on sites such as Facebook or Myspace and leave comments. Always include links to your page. Also, make sure your comments are genuine. No one likes seeing posts, by people who just want to get a name out but don't actually care about discussion topics.
Also, if you post on a regular basis, and your content is good, your name will start to appear on google seach results more often.
It takes a lot more time and work than people realize, to gain an audience. Most people wonder why their blogs don't get recognized, after blogging for only a few weeks, and then they quit blogging because of it.
